About the event

On January 24, join the official launch of Balance the Power!

Canada ranks 61st in the world for women’s representation in national parliaments.

We need to increase diversity and representation of women and equity-deserving communities in our elected bodies NOW.

Politicians have the power to balance the power.

Together, let’s demand they change politics for good.

Who should join the wave?

Do you believe that for democracy to be genuine, all voices must be represented in decision-making?

Do you want our elected bodies to reflect the rich diversity of the people they serve?

If yes, join the wave to Balance the Power!

Balance the Power is an intersectional, engaging campaign calling for greater diversity and representation in our elected bodies.

Elected bodies that reflect our rich diversity deliver better outcomes for everyone, especially equity-deserving communities.

Individuals, organizations, networks – let’s show a collective demand for change!

What

Our Land Acknowledgment

Balance the Power acknowledges that the land on which we live and work is the homeland of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, who have lived on it for millennia. We recognize the genocidal policies implemented against Indigenous peoples by settlers and many elected governments. We profoundly regret that historical and contemporary policies continue to disenfranchise Indigenous communities.

On Indigenous Inclusion

Meaningful participation and inclusion of Indigenous women and gender-diverse people is central to the premise and spirit of this campaign. We have and will continue to seek Indigenous perspectives and experiences to inform and guide this campaign.

Urge your elected representatives to sign the pledge to increase the diversity and representation of women and equity-deserving communities in our elected bodies.
